As part of Domestic Abuse awareness month I shall be holding a workshop on understanding the physiology behind trauma bonds created by domestic abuse ,whether that be mental. emotional or physical . So often institutions such as the police ,the courts and people in general are uneducated on the impact and effects of domestic abuse so that survivors come to doubt themselves, their own reality and perception of their experience. We will explore the neurobiology of trauma bonds and why women often find it so hard to leave their abuser.
Through regulating the nervous system , we expand our capacity to process trauma held in our bodies, so we can self regulate and bring our bodies out of a state of funtional freeze or fight flight, that can often manifest as stress related, autoimmune disease in its various forms..
The workshop also includes a 30 minute deeply relaxing soundbath and a trauma informed yoga session to gently balance the nervous system, both of which are very grounding and help to regulate our body and mind.
